Alejandro Baleta is selling a theorbo by Peter Biffin, built in Murrurundi, New South Wales, Australia, in 1981.

Some of the finest international performers have played, and continue to play throughout their professional careers, on baroque guitars (and also vihuelas, and even some lutes) by Peter Biffin: Hopkinson Smith, Xavier Díaz-Latorre, Juan Carlos Rivera, Pablo Zapico, Enrique Solinís, Miguel Rincón, Mónica Pustilnik, Eduardo Egüez, Rafael Bonavita, Dolores Costoyas, Maike Burgdorf, Rafael Muñoz or Philip Griffin… are just some of the most notable. Yet almost no one has had the pleasure and privilege of playing one of his rare, prized and coveted theorbos.

This beautiful, superior-level theorbo, professionally revised and adjusted by a luthier about 8 years ago, has a short string length of 73.5 cm for the first 7 or 8 strings and basses (diapasons) of 123.6 cm. It is a very comfortable theorbo to play, with a robust, sweet sound and great sustain. The Macassar ebony body is spectacular, of very high quality; the three rosettes on the soundboard are very finely executed. A custom-fitted hard case is included.
