The “ Society of the Vihuela, the lute and the guitar ” does not need an introduction for those of us who are part of the plucked string, but it is not needless to present it as a national cultural association (created in 2004) in order to spread and promote the knowledge and study of historical plucked string instruments, in all their manifestations: vihuela, lute, theorbo, Renaissance guitar, baroque and romantic classic, etc. For more than five years, I have collaborated in the elaboration of the new online identity of the Sociedad de la Vihuela. Already at the annual meeting of the SDLV held in Sigüenza in 2009 we presented the new website of the Society, which was an important step in improving the presence of society on the web. During this time we have incorporated a blog and also included an online store, with which the Society has been able to more easily distribute its publications and reach more partners in other corners of the world. And, in recent months, I have worked on reshaping the image of the web again, to adapt to current times and improve all aesthetic and usability aspects. This collaboration is the (humble) contribution that I can make to such a structuring entity as the SDLV, whose annual meetings are already a must for all of us who love these instruments. I don’t want to miss the opportunity to also review the excellent publications of the SDLV, such as Hispanica Lyra : Hispanica Lyra The first issue of the magazine was published in May 2005. Since then two issues have been published annually. It is the only monographic publication in the Spanish language exclusively dedicated to ancient plucked string instruments. The magazine provides research articles on instruments and music, reviews, news, and letters. The magazine is accompanied by a musical reprint, with which it is intended to get the music that is most difficult to find published, and a color sheet of commented musical iconography.   With nearly fifteen numbers already published, the rebirth of the plucked string in Spain can no longer be separated from the recognizable format and exquisite quality of Hispanica Lyra content.   In addition, the company has other essential publications , such as “The book of different figures” (Study and edition: Francisco Alfonso Valdivia) , “El Maestro” (a deluxe facsimile edition of Luis Milan’s vihuela book, at an affordable price), “Estudios sobre la vihuela” (a reference book with studies on the origin of the instrument, the diffusion of the vihuela, organological studies and even infrequently treated subjects like the making of strings) and the “Renaissance Lute Method of Pascale Boquet”.   And finally, I encourage you to become part of the Sociedad de la Vihuela or take a look at to the online store to get some of their publications.
