The comprehensive renovation project of the website, including all the content, design and online store, was not fully paid under the agreed amount. I only hope that Jose Carlos Cabello has better conditions for musicians and suppliers and that at least the work done will serve to promote this sector, even if he is the direct beneficiary.
During the summer of 2012 a new project was forged: the comprehensive renovation of the record label’s website Cantus Records . For several months I worked intensively with José Carlos Cabello to transfer to the new website not only his extensive catalog full of jewels musicals but also, especially, his passion for perfecting every last detail of that project that he has so painstakingly cared for and matured for so many years. Cantus Records’ mission seems impossible: “ create a label in charge of a very small production team, working in an almost artisanal way, in which the quality of the music and the excellence of the performances were in parallel with an external presentation as complete and beautiful as possible, and that the buyers of our records could have before them a true “object d’art” in which everything, sound, interpretation, music, design, information, illustrations, cover … everything was beautiful and exciting. ” But José Carlos Cabello has managed to fulfill all that intention in the project and, perhaps the most complex, to stay in time despite adversities. That is why early music will always owe a special debt to Cantus. It is relieving to know that this “ savoir faire ” has had an adequate reward, as most of the recordings have earned some international accolades from critics. In addition, Cantus has been the protagonist of several albums that have been the world’s first recording, and will not be the last, counting, for example, on the publication of the only CD dedicated exclusively to Renaissance guitar (C 9632 Tabulatures de Guiterne).The plucked string has had a special place at Cantus Records, boasting four fascinating recordings:
