Alejandro Baleta is selling a beautiful and spectacular original romantic guitar by Louis Panormo, dated and labelled 1849. It retains both the Louis Panormo label and a second commercial label by Marcus Moses.
The guitar is in perfect playing condition, with no warping or buzzing. The action is perfect and very comfortable, making it a very easy instrument to play, with the beautiful sound characteristic of Panormo guitars. A perfect opportunity to acquire a Panormo in excellent condition.
It was restored by Brian Cohen in 2006 (his receipt, detailing the work carried out, is included in the case) and has needed no restoration since. The current bridge is an exact replica of the original, made by the London luthier John Dean — an employee of Louis Panormo’s workshop who later set up on his own; the original bridge was damaged and had to be replaced during the professional 2006 restoration. The original bridge is included in the case to preserve it as a historical piece.
It bears the characteristic Panormo “P” carved into the bar next to the soundhole. The varnish is slightly “touched” in some areas (see the photographs of the back).
